Each year, Moonshot by TechCabal feels less like a conference and more like a gathering of Africa’s most curious minds — founders, creatives, policymakers, and dreamers shaping the continent’s digital future.
In 2025, the event returned to the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, under the theme “Building Momentum.” Over 3,000 innovators, investors, and builders convened to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and explore how Africa can sustain its tech renaissance.
From thought-provoking panels to creative showcases and late-night mixers, Moonshot 2025 pulsed with optimism and urgency. The Crypto Evangelist team was there to capture that energy first-hand — engaging with founders, policymakers, and creators who are defining what Africa’s next digital decade will look like.
Conversations that Mattered
What stood out this year wasn’t the size of the crowd but the honesty of the conversations. African founders spoke candidly about building through uncertainty, investors emphasized conviction in turbulent cycles, and policymakers listened with intent.
One speaker’s reflection — “Failure isn’t final; it’s feedback” — summed up the spirit of the event. Panels across Moonshot’s nine content tracks (Main Stage, Startup Stage, Future Stage, Creative Economy, Technical Workshop, FUEL Station, Roundtables, Cleantech, and Policy & Regulation) explored everything from scaling African startups to unlocking the next wave of AI, blockchain, and clean-tech innovation.
“Walking into this year’s Moonshot, the atmosphere was electric,” said the Crypto Evangelist team. “Every conversation felt intentional — you could sense founders, investors, and creatives all pushing Africa’s story forward in real time.”
Women Shaping the Future
Some of the most powerful moments unfolded away from the main stage. In smaller, more intimate sessions, women across industries shared stories that blended ambition with empathy.
At the Creative Economy Stage, Tokini Peterside-Schwebig, founder of ART X Lagos, spoke with OluwaMayowa Idowu of The Culture Custodian about The Work Behind the Wow — a candid look at the invisible labour of building cultural institutions.
Meanwhile, Ebi Atawodi, Senior Director of Product Management at Google, explored Designing for Billions, reminding creators that true impact starts with designing for one person at a time.
These sessions offered more than inspiration — they delivered practical lessons on resilience, storytelling, and the discipline required to build lasting impact.
The Creative Economy Showcase
Moonshot 2025’s Creative Economy Showcase brought the tagline “Building Momentum” to life. Anchored by David Adeleke’s presentation of The Africa Creator Economy Report by Communiqué, the showcase reframed creativity as infrastructure — a driver of growth rather than an accessory to technology.
Across the two days, storytellers, coders, filmmakers, and policy thinkers blurred the lines between art and innovation, proving that Africa’s creative industries are not just exporting culture but designing new digital economies.
Networking with Purpose
Beyond the stages, the real energy of Moonshot flowed through the lounges, corridors, and queue lines — spaces where collaboration replaced competition.
“Moonshot reminded us that connection isn’t about proximity; it’s about precision,” the Crypto Evangelist team added. “The best partnerships often start with one deliberate conversation.”
The event’s mixers and deal rooms became strategy grounds where founders refined pitches, investors discussed regulatory shifts, and creatives explored cross-sector collaborations.
